In recognition of International Day of People with Disability, Joblife Employment has launched its podcast platform to share inspirational stories from people with disability.

CEO of Joblife, Nunzia Confessore, said the podcast platform would feature the voices of people with disability who have overcome significant barriers to enter the workforce.

“As a disability employment service we recognise there was a need to provide a platform where we could highlight success stories, discuss issues around disability and employment, and where listeners could easily access information,” she said.

“We hope that our podcast will provide insights into disability employment in Australia, the barriers our clients face, and how they have removed these barriers.”

The first podcast features Graeme Innes, lawyer, mediator and company director, and Australia’s Disability Discrimination Commissioner from December 2005 to July 2014. Blind from birth, Graeme has been an inspiration to many – from his advocacy for disability rights and disability employment to his role in the drafting of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, he has been tireless supporting people with disability.

“In this first interview with Leigh Hatcher, Graeme’s story is engaging, inspirational and compelling.  We have set a high benchmark starting with Graeme, but there are thousands of untold stories out there that we are eager to start sharing,” Ms Confessore said.
