On Thursday the 24th of March, the Redlands Coast Chamber of Commerce hosted a Speed Recruitment Event to connect local job seekers with local jobs.
There was free drinks and food, affordable professional headshots, resume improvement support, and casual interviews. It was a chance to connect with real people rather than through a piece of paper in an overflowing pile of applications.
Senior Employment Consultant Tracey Hill represented Joblife at the event. It was an opportunity to expand her employer network and find work for her clients.
“I brought a few clients. We even met job seekers who were not on our caseload and have since brought them on to offer additional support in their search for work.” Tracey said.
Daisy Jones* was a client that attended the event. Daisy lives with Anxiety and Fibromyalgia.
With Daisy’s experience in the hospitality industry, Tracey was sure to introduce her to many local cafes at the event. Tracey also provided a reference during Daisy’s speed interview.
“She has ended up being offered the role and we are organising for her to commence in the coming week.” Tracey explained.
Joblife also helped anxious job seekers join forces to approach the stalls of employers.
“Mikayla Smith* was very anxious to approach employers by herself. I introduced her to another job seeker so they could buddy up. They went to every table together and did very well.
I spoke with my contact at the retail association who was so impressed with Mikayla that she is going to help Mikayla secure a new job.” Tracey explained.
